The Village of Riverton is a community of 3048 residents located in Sangamon County, seven miles East of Springfield, the capitol of Illinois. The Sangamon River forms its West boundary.     The Village of Riverton is participating with other Sangamon County communities in the creation of a plan to lessen the impact of natural hazards such as tornados, severe storms, extreme heat, and floods on it's citizens.  A display of the basics of the Plan are in the main hall of the Municipal Center. The Village will soon be conducting a survey to get  residents input on this Plan.
