ORDINANCE NO. 74-001

AN ORDINANCE ENACTING A CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE VILLAGE OF RIVERTON, ILLINOIS, CODIFYING, RENUMBERING, REVISING AND REARRANGING EXISTING ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF RIVERTON, ADDING NEW MATTERS AND REPEALING VARIOUS ORDINANCES.

Whereas, the present general and permanent ordinances of the Village of Riverton are inadequately arranged and classified and are insufficient in form and substance for the complete preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare of the municipality and for the proper conduct of its affairs;

Now, therefore, be it ordained by the president and board of trustees of the Village of Riverton in regular session:

SECTION 1: The Code of Ordinances heretofore approved in manuscript form by the Board of Trustees be incorporated in this ordinance and that the same be and the same is hereby adopted and enacted.

SECTION 2: Said Code of Ordinances contains all of the provisions of a general and permanent nature pertaining to the subjects therein enumerated and embraced. All prior ordinances, passed prior to August 1, 1973, pertaining to the subjects treated in said Code, shall be deemed repealed from and after the effective date of said Code except insofar as the same are included in said Code, as amended from time to time, of the present ordinances of the Village of Riverton. All ordinances of a temporary or special nature and all other ordinances pertaining to subjects not enumerated and embraced in said Code of Ordinances and all ordinances passed since August 1, 1973, shall remain in full force and effect unless therein repealed by necessary implication.

SECTION 3: Said Code of Ordinances shall be published in book form and certified as correct by the President and Village Clerk as provided by statute.

SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law. The Village Code of 1974 adopted by this ordinance shall take effect and be in force at 12:01 A.M. on March 20, 1974.
